Sharon Booth, a Mapoon local marks a great milestone in her career, celebrating 25 years in the Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service.

Sharon has been a health worker at the local health centre since she began her health career.

She helps ensure patients attend their appointments and checks those in the community who need extra support.

Senior Medical Officer Riley Savage, who works alongside Ms. Booth, said she had the trust of her community.

“She also has her finger on the pulse of what is going on in the community. She relays that to staff, such as if there is sorry business that the clinic staff need to be mindful of,” she said.

“She goes above and beyond to support the people of Mapoon.”

Indigenous health workers play a critical part in how to give health care as they are a crucial link between clinicians and the community.

Congrats Sharon on reaching this milestone and thank you for your dedication to Mapoon and our health service.
