Start a research project
Before you can start a research project you need to apply for ethics approval and governance authorisation.
All human research in Australia must follow the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research. This makes sure:
- it has merit and good design
- any benefits outweigh the risks
- your research team is experienced and qualified
- participants are treated with respect.
Read the following to help you decide on the correct pathway for your project:
- guide to research and quality at TCHHS [PDF 155.46 KB]
- defining research table for TCHHS [PDF 139.42 KB].
If you’re not sure of the right pathway for your project, ask the reviewing HREC or email torres-cape-research-governance@health.qld.gov.au.
