Benefits of doing research with us

Our population

We care for over 27,000 people, of which 68% identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

We’re one of Australia's largest providers of health services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Our facilities

We provide care in 35 facilities.

Equipment and services vary across our region. We assess the suitability of our sites for clinical trials based on each trial’s needs.

Australian Teletrial Program

We’re part of the Australian Teletrial Program. This program uses telehealth and remote monitoring to conduct trials safely.

Our remote facilities connect to trial sites in other cities. Patients can stay close to their home and family while taking part in trials.

Support staff

We have a team ready to help the clinical trials workforce, investigators and sponsors.

Research ethics, governance and safety

All trials at Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service follow the latest guidelines from the Australian Government. These include the ICH Guideline for Good Clinical Practice and the National Standard Operating Procedures for Clinical Trials.

Any professional involved in trials has Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification.

Our partners

We work closely with the following research, funding and training partners.

Our research and clinical trials

Our Board endorses the National Clinical Trials Governance Framework as part of the Australian Health Service Safety and Quality Accreditation (AHSSQA) Scheme.

To find out about our local research projects search the Queensland Health Database of Research Activity (DoRA).

We also have strong ties with other clinical trials units in Australia. You can search Australian Clinical Trials on the Australian Government website.

You can read publications from our researchers in the National Library of Medicine of the United States of America.
