The Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Board met on 2 July 2026. The meeting was chaired by Board Chair, Renee Williams, and attended by 7 board members.

The board received updates from its standing committees that met during the reporting period. These included reports from the following committees:

  • the Board Safety and Quality Committee
  • the Board Executive Committee
  • the Board Finance and Performance Committee.

The board also received the Health Service Chief Executive’s Board Report, which provided an update on key operational, strategic and performance matters across the health service.

During the meeting, the board approved the following items:

  • Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service Agreement Update 2026-27 Offer and Amendment
  • Timely Investment of Infrastructure Maintenance Program for 2025/26 and 2026/27
  • the tender award for St Pauls and Kubin Primary Health Care Centres on Moa Island.

Board activities

During June 2026, board members participated in a number of key meetings and engagements including:

  • the signing of a Heads of Agreement with Community Enterprise Queensland reaffirming our shared commitment to Closing the Gap in social, economic, health and wellbeing outcomes across the Torres Strait, Northern Peninsula Area and Cape York
  • the Queensland National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) Week Flag Raising Ceremony in Brisbane, where Chair Williams participated in raising the Torres Strait Islander Flag
  • Hospital and Health Board Chairs’ Forum
  • Hospital and Health Board Safety and Quality Chairs’ Forum
  • Clinical Governance Simulator: Safety and Quality Committee Workshop
  • Board Finance and Performance Committee meeting.
