The Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Board met on 3 June 2026 in Bamaga.

The meeting was chaired by Board Chair, Renee Williams, and attended by 6 board members.

The board received updates from its standing committees that met during the reporting period. These included reports from the following committees:

  • the Board Executive Committee
  • the Board Finance and Performance Committee.

The board also received the Health Service Chief Executive’s Board Report, which provided an update on key operational, strategic and performance matters across the health service.

During the meeting, the board approved the Extraordinary Window Amendment (funding) and Patient Accommodation Procurement.

Board activities

During May 2026, board members participated in a number of key meetings and engagements including:

  • Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service Consumer Advisory Committee meeting.
  • North Queensland Primary Health Network monthly forum.
  • Meeting with the Visiting Minister the Hon. Amanda Masano, Minister for Public Service for Papua New Guinea who has an interest in remote service delivery.
  • Meeting with Northern Peninsula Area Family and Community Services in Bamaga.
  • Attending the blessing of the new dental health van in Bamaga.
  • Meeting with the Northern Peninsula Area Regional Council.
  • The Board also spent time on Thursday Island, touring the hospital and the Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC), and participated in a coconut front weaving workshop.
  • The Board also toured the Umagico, Injinoo, Seisia and New Mapoon PHCCs.
