This maintenance is to ensure the facility continues to deliver high-quality care. During this time, we are closing the usual entrance to the emergency department.
Temporary emergency department entrance
While maintenance is underway, access to the Emergency department will be redirected through the Inpatient unit. We have clear signage to help guide patients and visitors to the new ED entrance.
The project began on 27 November 2025. It is expected to end by early 2026, subject to weather and other conditions.
Hospital services during maintenance
All hospital services will remain fully operational throughout the maintenance period. This includes:
- emergency services
- inpatient care
- theatre
- medical imaging
- maternity services.
Visiting patients
Visitors can continue to use the Inpatient unit entrance to visit patients. Hospital visiting hours are still the same.
Opening hours
There will be no changes to the opening hours for the Emergency department. It will remain open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Safety during construction
Safety is a top priority. Thorough planning has been undertaken to ensure the hospital stays safe and accessible for patients, staff, and visitors during the construction period.
Our team has notified emergency services including QAS, QPS, and RSQ. They have access maps to ensure uninterrupted coordination and response times.
